The effect of residual flocculants in the circulating water on

To this end, inlet slurry to the tailings thickener of the Gol-e-Gohar iron ore processing plant was sampled for four days. Flocculant type (anionic, cationic, and nonionic polyacrylamide), their dosage (10–90 g/t), pH (1–12.5), solid content (5–23%), and for the first-time residual flocculant dosage in the circulated water were investigated. The flow behavior of iron ore slurry with/without additive is investigated at distinct concentrations, i.e., 60, 65, 70, and 75%, with a variation of shear rate 1–600 1/s. The shear stress rises with increasing shear rate at all solid loadings, indicating non-Newtonian flow behavior with minor yield stress.Influence of Natural Additive on Slurryability and Flowability of Iron Ore

Selective Flocculation of Iron Ore Slimes: Results of

A significant portion of currently mined iron ores, that is, 15–20% of run of mine ore, typically ends up as slimes—a slurry of fine particles (<45 micron) with relatively higher alumina contents (7–15% Al2O3). The only viable option currently is to dispose these slimes in tailing ponds for water recovery and future use. Due to increasing demand for Iron (Fe) is a metallic element that constitutes 5.6% by weight of the Earth's crust and is the fourth most abundant element in the crust. Iron ores are rocks from which metallic iron can be economically extracted. The principal iron ores contain hematite (Fe 2 O 3) and magnetite (Fe 3 O 4 ). Hematite is an iron oxide mineral.Iron Ore Geoscience Australia

Iron ore beneficiation: an overview ScienceDirect

Dry processing of iron ore: In dry processing of iron ore, ROM is generally crushed below 40 mm through three-stage crushing and thus segregated by screening into 10–40 and −10 mm fractions. For softer ore, tumbler index is generally low and hence lump ore is crushed below 10 mm to produce 100% fine product. Yield from the plants has Dewatering of the final concentrate and tailings of the mineral processing plants is necessary owing to substantial quantities of water accompanied by the ore minerals. Thickeners are recognized as one of the most cost-effective technologies for water recovery from concentrate and tailings streams.
